iiNet not working? Try this
iiNet provides fibre internet and mobile service on the nbn network. iiNet is part of TPG Telecom.
Find out whether iiNet knows about an outage at your address
- Open iiNet's official outage page (linked below) and enter your address or sign in.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other iiNet customers are affected too.
- iiNet runs on the nbn network, so also check the nbn page linked under "Check a related service".
Restart your iiNet modem the right way
- Unplug the power from your iiNet modem. Leave the fibre box on the wall (ONT) plugged in unless its lights are off or red.
- Wait a full 60 seconds so the equipment drops its old connection.
- Plug it back in and give it up to 10 minutes. The internet light should turn solid white, green or blue depending on the model.
- Still nothing? A red or dark light on the fibre box means the line itself is down, and only the provider can fix that.
- Open the My iiNet app and run its connection test. It can reset the line from the provider's side, which a power cycle cannot.
No signal or no data on iiNet
- Switch airplane mode on for 10 seconds and off again. This forces the phone to register with the network from scratch.
- Restart the phone. If it shows "SOS" or "Emergency calls only", the SIM is not being accepted by the network.
- Calls work but data does not? Open Settings, turn mobile data off and on, and check the APN matches the one in iiNet's help pages.
- iiNet uses nbn's masts. If nbn has an outage in your area, iiNet will be down as well and resetting your phone will not help.
- Take the SIM out, wipe it and reseat it, or toggle the eSIM off and on in Settings.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

iiNet outage questions
Is iiNet down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of iiNet's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach iiNet's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a iiNet outage in my area?
Use iiNet's official outage page, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Which network does iiNet use?
iiNet runs on the nbn network. When nbn has a fault, iiNet customers in the same area lose service as well.
Am I owed compensation for a iiNet outage?
Under Australian Consumer Law you can ask for a refund or credit for a service you paid for and did not receive. Raise it with iiNet first. If it is not resolved, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) takes complaints for free.
How long do iiNet outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
