amaysim not working? Try this
amaysim provides mobile service on the Optus network.
Find out whether amaysim knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the amaysim app on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other amaysim customers are affected too.
- amaysim runs on the Optus network, so also check the Optus page linked under "Check a related service".
No signal or no data on amaysim
- Switch airplane mode on for 10 seconds and off again. This forces the phone to register with the network from scratch.
- Restart the phone. If it shows "SOS" or "Emergency calls only", the SIM is not being accepted by the network.
- Calls work but data does not? Open Settings, turn mobile data off and on, and check the APN matches the one in amaysim's help pages.
- amaysim uses Optus's masts. If Optus has an outage in your area, amaysim will be down as well and resetting your phone will not help.
- Take the SIM out, wipe it and reseat it, or toggle the eSIM off and on in Settings.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Try a different app or website. If only one app fails, that app is down, not your provider.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

amaysim outage questions
Is amaysim down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of amaysim's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach amaysim's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a amaysim outage in my area?
Use the amaysim app, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Which network does amaysim use?
amaysim runs on the Optus network. When Optus has a fault, amaysim customers in the same area lose service as well.
Am I owed compensation for a amaysim outage?
Under Australian Consumer Law you can ask for a refund or credit for a service you paid for and did not receive. Raise it with amaysim first. If it is not resolved, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) takes complaints for free.
How long do amaysim outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
