T-Mobile not working? Try this
T-Mobile provides wireless home internet and mobile service. T-Mobile home internet uses the same towers as its phones, so a tower problem usually hits both.
Find out whether T-Mobile knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the T-Life app on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other T-Mobile customers are affected too.
- Ask a neighbour on T-Mobile, or check a second device, to see whether the problem is only yours.
Fix T-Mobile wireless home internet
- Restart the T-Mobile 5G Gateway: unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Move the gateway near a window on the side of the house facing the nearest tower. One room over can double the signal.
- Speeds drop in the evening when the tower is busy. If it is slow only at peak time, that is congestion, not an outage.
No signal or no data on T-Mobile
- Switch airplane mode on for 10 seconds and off again. This forces the phone to register with the network from scratch.
- Restart the phone. If it shows "SOS" or "Emergency calls only", the SIM is not being accepted by the network.
- Calls work but data does not? Open Settings, turn mobile data off and on, and check the APN matches the one in T-Mobile's help pages.
- Try Wi-Fi calling if you have home internet. It keeps calls and texts working during a mast fault.
- Take the SIM out, wipe it and reseat it, or toggle the eSIM off and on in Settings.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

T-Mobile outage questions
Is T-Mobile down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of T-Mobile's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach T-Mobile's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a T-Mobile outage in my area?
Use the T-Life app, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Why is my T-Mobile internet slow but not down?
Slow speeds with a working connection usually come from Wi-Fi, not the line. Test with a cable first. If the wired speed is also far below your plan, there may be a fault on the line that has not become a full outage yet, so report it.
Can I get a refund for a T-Mobile outage?
There is no federal rule that forces US providers to credit outages, but most will if you ask. Contact T-Mobile after service returns, give the start and end time, and ask for a prorated credit for the days you were without service.
How long do T-Mobile outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
