Videotron not working? Try this
Videotron provides cable internet and mobile service.
Find out whether Videotron knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the Videotron app on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other Videotron customers are affected too.
- Ask a neighbour on Videotron, or check a second device, to see whether the problem is only yours.
Restart your Helix Fi gateway the right way
- Unplug the power from your Helix Fi gateway. If the modem has a backup battery, take that out as well.
- Wait a full 60 seconds so the equipment drops its old connection.
- Plug it back in and give it up to 10 minutes. On cable, the "online" light should stop blinking and stay solid.
- Still blinking? Check that the coax cable is finger-tight at the wall and at the modem. A loose coax connector is the most common cause of a single-home cable fault.
- Open the Videotron app and run its connection test. It can reset the line from the provider's side, which a power cycle cannot.
No signal or no data on Videotron
- Switch airplane mode on for 10 seconds and off again. This forces the phone to register with the network from scratch.
- Restart the phone. If it shows "SOS" or "Emergency calls only", the SIM is not being accepted by the network.
- Calls work but data does not? Open Settings, turn mobile data off and on, and check the APN matches the one in Videotron's help pages.
- Try Wi-Fi calling if you have home internet. It keeps calls and texts working during a mast fault.
- Take the SIM out, wipe it and reseat it, or toggle the eSIM off and on in Settings.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

Videotron outage questions
Is Videotron down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of Videotron's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach Videotron's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a Videotron outage in my area?
Use the Videotron app, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Why is my Videotron internet slow but not down?
Slow speeds with a working connection usually come from Wi-Fi, not the line. Test with a cable first. If the wired speed is also far below your plan, there may be a fault on the line that has not become a full outage yet, so report it.
What can I do if Videotron will not credit an outage?
Ask Videotron for a credit for the time you were without service. If you cannot settle it with them, the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) handles complaints about Canadian providers free of charge.
How long do Videotron outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
