TekSavvy not working? Try this
TekSavvy provides cable internet, fibre internet and DSL. TekSavvy rents its lines from Rogers, Bell, Cogeco and others, so the fault is often on the underlying carrier's network.
Find out whether TekSavvy knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the MyTekSavvy portal on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other TekSavvy customers are affected too.
- Ask a neighbour on TekSavvy, or check a second device, to see whether the problem is only yours.
Restart your TekSavvy modem and router the right way
- Unplug the power from your modem and router. Leave the fibre box on the wall (ONT) plugged in unless its lights are off or red.
- Wait a full 60 seconds so the equipment drops its old connection.
- Plug it back in and give it up to 10 minutes. On cable, the "online" light should stop blinking and stay solid.
- Still blinking? Check that the coax cable is finger-tight at the wall and at the modem. A loose coax connector is the most common cause of a single-home cable fault.
- Open the MyTekSavvy portal and run its connection test. It can reset the line from the provider's side, which a power cycle cannot.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

TekSavvy outage questions
Is TekSavvy down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of TekSavvy's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach TekSavvy's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a TekSavvy outage in my area?
Use the MyTekSavvy portal, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Why is my TekSavvy internet slow but not down?
Slow speeds with a working connection usually come from Wi-Fi, not the line. Test with a cable first. If the wired speed is also far below your plan, there may be a fault on the line that has not become a full outage yet, so report it.
What can I do if TekSavvy will not credit an outage?
Ask TekSavvy for a credit for the time you were without service. If you cannot settle it with them, the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) handles complaints about Canadian providers free of charge.
How long do TekSavvy outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
