Shaw not working? Try this
Shaw provides cable internet and fibre internet on the Rogers network. Shaw has been part of Rogers since 2023 and is being rebranded as Rogers in western Canada.
Find out whether Shaw knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the My Shaw app on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other Shaw customers are affected too.
- Shaw runs on the Rogers network, so also check the Rogers page linked under "Check a related service".
Restart your Shaw Fibre+ Gateway the right way
- Unplug the power from your Shaw Fibre+ Gateway. Leave the fibre box on the wall (ONT) plugged in unless its lights are off or red.
- Wait a full 60 seconds so the equipment drops its old connection.
- Plug it back in and give it up to 10 minutes. On cable, the "online" light should stop blinking and stay solid.
- Still blinking? Check that the coax cable is finger-tight at the wall and at the modem. A loose coax connector is the most common cause of a single-home cable fault.
- Open the My Shaw app and run its connection test. It can reset the line from the provider's side, which a power cycle cannot.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

Shaw outage questions
Is Shaw down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of Shaw's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach Shaw's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a Shaw outage in my area?
Use the My Shaw app, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Which network does Shaw use?
Shaw runs on the Rogers network. When Rogers has a fault, Shaw customers in the same area lose service as well.
What can I do if Shaw will not credit an outage?
Ask Shaw for a credit for the time you were without service. If you cannot settle it with them, the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) handles complaints about Canadian providers free of charge.
How long do Shaw outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
