Fido not working? Try this
Fido provides cable internet and mobile service on the Rogers network.
Find out whether Fido knows about an outage at your address
- Sign in to the Fido app on mobile data. Known outages for your address are shown on the first screen.
- Look at the report chart on this page. A sudden jump in the last hour means other Fido customers are affected too.
- Fido runs on the Rogers network, so also check the Rogers page linked under "Check a related service".
Restart your Fido modem and router the right way
- Unplug the power from your modem and router. If the modem has a backup battery, take that out as well.
- Wait a full 60 seconds so the equipment drops its old connection.
- Plug it back in and give it up to 10 minutes. On cable, the "online" light should stop blinking and stay solid.
- Still blinking? Check that the coax cable is finger-tight at the wall and at the modem. A loose coax connector is the most common cause of a single-home cable fault.
- Open the Fido app and run its connection test. It can reset the line from the provider's side, which a power cycle cannot.
No signal or no data on Fido
- Switch airplane mode on for 10 seconds and off again. This forces the phone to register with the network from scratch.
- Restart the phone. If it shows "SOS" or "Emergency calls only", the SIM is not being accepted by the network.
- Calls work but data does not? Open Settings, turn mobile data off and on, and check the APN matches the one in Fido's help pages.
- Fido uses Rogers's masts. If Rogers has an outage in your area, Fido will be down as well and resetting your phone will not help.
- Take the SIM out, wipe it and reseat it, or toggle the eSIM off and on in Settings.
Work out whether it is the internet or just your Wi-Fi
- Connect a laptop to the router with a network cable. If the cable works and Wi-Fi does not, the provider is fine and the router or its position is the problem.
- Test more than one device. One failing device points to that device.
- Turn off any VPN and try again.

Fido outage questions
Is Fido down right now?
The status at the top of this page is updated every few minutes from automated checks of Fido's systems and from visitor reports. Our checks reach Fido's website and sign-in servers, so a local line or mast fault in one neighbourhood shows up first in the report chart rather than in the checks.
How do I check for a Fido outage in my area?
Use the Fido app, which shows faults for your own address or postcode. Then compare with the reports on this page to see whether other customers are affected.
Which network does Fido use?
Fido runs on the Rogers network. When Rogers has a fault, Fido customers in the same area lose service as well.
What can I do if Fido will not credit an outage?
Ask Fido for a credit for the time you were without service. If you cannot settle it with them, the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) handles complaints about Canadian providers free of charge.
How long do Fido outages usually last?
Most faults are cleared within a few hours. Damage to cables from storms or construction can take a day or more, because a crew has to repair the line by hand.
